Initial Gap Review - Optional |
This should be your first step in getting to understand what the standard will require of you. And while you could do this yourselves using the audit workbook provided with the
relevant standard, many organisations prefer to leave this to our team of specialist auditors instead.
As impartial observers, they are more able to identify the areas of your operation that might not stand up to scrutiny, as well as any gaps against the standard.
Following our review, we will then supply you with a report that identifies the gaps against the standard, which you can then use to create your own action plan.
This will help you to implement any changes you might need to make to your procedures or quality systems, in order to meet the required standards.

Pre-Audit Assessment - Optional |
It's no secret that preparing for a full audit can be a fairly daunting exercise that takes its toll on both management and staff. It can be difficult to know when you are
ready for your certification audit.
As a result, many of our clients find that our Pre-Audit assessment process checks preparedness and additionally allows your staff to be involved in an audit process without the
stress of it being a full certification audit.
During this Pre-Audit, our trained staff can help you identify any areas of concern and clarify the intent and interpretation of the standard so these concerns can be met -
in both a practical and cost-effective way, to properly prepare you for the formal audit process.

Document Review - Stage One Audit |
A documentation review is the first step towards your full Certification Audit. This is usually completed off-site. Your organisation sends copies of its policies
and procedures. The DAA Group auditor will then review your documents against the standard.
You'll receive a written report outlining areas where further work is required with your documentation and detailing any areas that would require improvement or further
action before the full Certification Audit takes place.
We can either undertake this documentation review at your premises or off-site if this is more convenient for you and your staff.
This document review process is always a really valuable way to assess the relative strengths and weaknesses of your management system documentation - prior to an on-site
audit.

On-site Certification Audit - Stage Two Audit |
Planning and preparation for the on-site audit starts with you at the time of proposal.
This continues through communication as we prepare for your on-site visit to ensure that we have the right mix of skills on the audit team and all your relevant services are
covered.
The audit team will work with you, with honesty and open communication throughout the audit. This starts with an opening meeting to which all staff are welcome to
attend.
The audit is undertaken using evidence-based processes and triangulation of information. This ensures a robust audit and also gives you confidence in the audit
findings.
The process from start-to-finish is outlined in the tables below.

On-going Surveillance |
Once you attain the necessary Certification, ongoing surveillance audits are carried out to ensure continued
implementation of your Standards.
They are usually one day audits (for small to medium sized organisation) carried out at either 12 monthly or 18 monthly periods. The frequency of these surveillance audits is determined by
the standard to which you are certified, and the outcome of the certification audit.
For Health and Disability Services Standard, the Ministry of Health will decide the audit period when
they award Certification. This decision will be based on the result of the audit.
