Range Of Services
Client Managers offer assistance tailored to meet individual client's needs. This assistance can be provided in these main areas:
- Initial Gap Review/Pre Assessment
- An initial gap review can be undertaken to identify the areas that comply and the gaps against the selected Standard. From this an action plan for implementing policies and procedures and the quality system to meet the standard fully can be prepared.
This should be the first step in building a plan to meet the standards. You may undertake this internally using the audit workbook provided with the standard.
- Document Review
- The documentation review is an assessment of your complete management system documentation prior to the audit. A comprehensive written documentation review report addressing all clauses and detailing the areas within the documented system, which would
require further improvement action, will be provided to you prior to the Certification Audit.
At your discretion, the documentation review can be conducted at your premises or off-site.
- Certification to Health and Disability Sector Standards
- Provides for auditing as required by the Ministry of Health for Certification against the Health and Disability Sector Standards. The audit would be undertaken as per any external audit with a documented audit report and corrective action
requirements. Compliance will be assessed using the Health and Disability Sector Standards audit tool criteria and the risk assessment matrix.
- Ongoing Surveillance
- Surveillance audits are carried out to ensure continued implementation of your Standards.
The Ministry of Health will decide the audit period when they award Certification. This decision will be based on the result of the audit
Surveillance visits are currently set at a minimum of 18 months or as defined by the Ministry of Health.

Lead Auditors of the DAA Group have worked in the health quality sector over the last 10 years. The DAA Group is committed to seeing improving standards and outcomes for both the consumer of services and the organisations providing services. This
commitment has been demonstrated over the last few years by the involvement with the development of the Health and Disability Sector Standards. We have representation on expert committees, provided written comment on the draft standards as they emerged,
assisted with trial audits of the standards, provided training for providers on the new requirements and continued to work with the Ministry of Health and Standards New Zealand on standards development.
General Comment
The DAA Group believes healthcare provider audits should be based on the principles of, and best practice of quality, safety and risk management, rather than simply verifying compliance with written procedures. Our audit focus on the outcomes of
processes and the level of confidence achieved with respect to quality, safety and risk. We encourage our clients to adopt codes of best practice and to implement bench marking to measure attainment, rather than settle for compliance with minimal
standards.
The DAA Group will continue to maintain its capability to deliver added value to clients during the audit process. In this regard we seek to verify compliance with standards and at the same time we work with our clients along their continuous improvement
